Quartzite is a refined natural raw material multiply washed, separated, crushed, dried and cleaned of all organic admixtures. The product is distinguished by its crypto-crystal mineral structure and the high chemical purity from 98.5% to 99.5% SiO2.
P-D Kremen d.o.o. extracts the quartzite in the Mirna plant by surface excavation in deposit Jersovec II from where it is transported in the separation where it is refined. The unwanted admixtures are removed in the process of washing, separating and manual sifting. The process takes place by means of washing drums, appropriate sieves, screw classificators and hydro classifiers.
In accordance with the needs of our customers and the development goals of a higher processing level, we built a quartzite crushing mill. With the operation of the crushing mill, we obtained the conditions for the extraction of different fractions of quartzite. A part of the crushed quartzite fractions is used in the production of refractory products and the main part is sold to the P-D Refractories Group. The technological procedure is computerised and includes devices for pre-crushing, crushing and sieving into different fractions.
Laboratory control: we ensure a stable quality on the basis of sieve and chemical analyses.
A refractory silica bricks are made from the quartzite, which are used for the lining of glass furnaces, high furnaces in ironworks and coke production furnaces. It is also used for sandblasting, the production of casts in foundries, the production of acidic refractory masses and in the construction (paving stones, kerbstones).
